This palm leaf etching depicts the ten avatars assumed by the creator. This is an ancient and religious art form of Odisha and currently practised in Cuttack and Puri. The panels and figures have been etched out using a stylus, following which a paste is rubbed over the leaf by hand, before ink is finally poured, making the lines stand out clearly.     Rows of same sized palm leaves are first arranged together and sewn. These neatly sewn palm leaves are then folded in such a way so as to make a pile.
