Eiffel Tower Patchwork

Patch Work,

Nearly eight feet tall and utilising an eye-catching contrast achieved by juxtaposing pink against a deep blue background, this wall hanging shows a likeness of the famed Eiffel Tower in Paris. Swatches of embroidered cloth have been innovatively cut and arranged to achieve the final shape, while the pink produces a sense of exuberance and euphoria. The joints between the pieces of cloth have been covered by strips of coarse yarn:this achieves a dual purpose, that of calling out each individual shape, as well as hiding the underlying stitches. With these tell-tale techniques, this piece of wall decor is a prime example of the Rajasthani art of patchwork.
